1/21- Doctor, Doctor, give me the news.

Weight Loss for the Week: 0lbs

Ok, I never should have commented on how I hadn't gotten sick last Sunday.  Last Monday, to serve me right for being so over zealous about my great immune system, I got sick.  I got the cold with a side of sinuses.  I ended up having to call in on Tuesday and went in to the doctor.  I love shots and medicine and anything like that that helps me get better.  I was able to go in to work the rest of the week which was good.

When I'm sick like that, I eat more carbs and starches than I normally do, so between that and being all stopped up with the antibiotics, I know it'll be another week before my body settles out all the food.  I still feel bloated the whole time I'm on the antibiotics though.  That's the part of it that I don't like. Whatever it takes to get better though is worth it I suppose.

Aside from that, this week was fine, kind of odd though. We had some wintry weather this week, making the students a little crazy with the hope of snow and ice and, most importantly, the possibility of no school.  No matter what changes happen with a culture, no matter how vast the generation gap seems, snow days will still cause all students to act giddy.  Glad to know some things don't change :)

I'm enjoying this three-day weekend, part of why I'm posting a day late even.  I had some nice time with the family on Saturday.  I had a lot of fun brunching with a friend most of yesterday, in fact, we may have had too much fun.  And then I finally saw Django: Unchained with another friend last night- so awesome, just so awesome.

Alright, I tried a new recipe this past week, before I got sick.  It was Grilled Chicken with Spinach and Mozzarella.  It was pretty tasty :)

Grilled Chicken with Spinach and Mozzarella:
3 large chicken breasts, cut in half into cutlets
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp. olive oil
3 oz. part-skim mozzarella
10 oz. frozen spinach
Roasted red peppers, optional

Grill chicken breasts and set to the side. Saute olive oil and garlic, add spinach and cook until thoroughly heated. Place chicken on baking sheet.  Divide spinach equally on each chicken breast. Sprinkle half an ounce of mozzarella on each breast. Add slices of roasted red peppers, if you want.  Bake at 400 for 8 minutes.

1/6- Some days I pray for silence, and some days I pray for soul, some days I just pray to the god of sex, and drugs, and rock and roll.

Weight Loss for the Week: 1lb

Ok, it was the first full week back at school which meant it was time to get back into the routine of it all.  And aside from being totally exhausted a few days, I was glad to be back on a schedule.  The kids had a few moments this week, but they'll get used to the fact that halfway there and all the way there are not the same thing.  There was overall improvement from Monday to Friday, so that's good.

I pre-planned almost all my meals this week, I stuck to my exercise schedule, and, though it damn near killed my feet, I stood up and walked around for all my classes this week.  I also did not eat out as much as I was during the break. And when I did, I knew ahead of time so I could ration out my points and stay on track.  That's what I like about WW- I don't have to worry if I want to go out with people, I just need to know when and where we're going and I can usually figure out food and drinks and points and still have a good time :) I also made a point to eat some type of roughage each day- like kale, spinach, cabbage, bran, etc.

So, we're off to a good start for the year- if only the weather would figure itself out.  I mean, it was COLD, and then yesterday, it was warm- I even got a damn mosquito bite- now it's raining and the temperature is supposed to be dropping quickly.  I am taking my vitamins, doing my nasal rinse, and still having to take the occasional sinus headache pill.  I shouldn't complain, this time last year if this had been happening, I would've had a sinus infection so terrible that I'd be out for at least a few days.  I am so thankful for my septoplasty.

Ok, time to attempt to be productive and face the rainy weather.  I will be finishing lessons, grading assignments, then shopping and cooking for the week.  I think I may try out a new recipe- that's one of my goals to try out a few new recipes each month to see what I like and then share them :)

Tip for this week: Add some roughage to at least one meal a day to help with digestion- it makes you feel better, I promise.

1/6- There's a pretty little thing waiting for the King down in the Jungle Room

Weight Loss for the Week: 0lbs

Ok, the holidays are completely over and that means a lot less eating out and parties and drinking and all that crap. Thank goodness.  I am ready to be back to eating healthy for the most part.  I have been doing well with the exercise- the only reason I've maintained this holiday season.  I imagine I should have gained like 5 or more pounds but thankfully did not.

I had a really fun New Year's- I went down to Tunica with a few friends and we gambled some, I people-watched, and I got some really funny photos at the Hollywood Casino :)  I only ended up losing $6 that night- I won a nice amount at first and just gambled with that for most of the night.  I am certain it was the cheapest New Year's Eve of my adult life thus far.

We started back to school this week.  It's been fine, the kids did not want to start learning right away, but they'll get over it.  I like the units we're starting and I hope that translates over for the kids, maybe they won't love them as much, but they may enjoy it more than they think they will.  Every teacher's hope, right?

With the school year starting, it's a bit easier to go back to planning meals and figuring out exercise times.  I like the structure. I think it helps with things like weight loss and a healthy lifestyle.  So, I'm also glad the semester has started up for that reason.

Ok, time to enjoy the last bit of the weekend :)
